Student Attendance & Health

Attendance

All children are expected to attend school every day, unless there is a very good reason for them to be absent. Children who are ill or who have not fully recovered from illness should not be at school. When your child is unwell and unable to attend, a phone call notifying the school of their absence would be appreciated. Extended periods of pupil absence should be reported to the school and children returning to school after their illness should bring a ‘Student Absent Note’ explaining their absence.

Sign In/Out

If Children arrive at school after the class roll has been marked, they are required to enter the school via the office and be signed in by a parent.

Also if it is necessary to collect children from school during school hours, for any reason, parents are required to visit the office, and “Sign Out’ their child. It is a legal requirement that we have a written explanation for the variance in class attendance rolls.

Asthma/Ananphylaxis/First Aid

All Staff at Holy Rosary participate in regular first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis education. We are a Recognised Asthma Friendly, Sun Smart and Go For your Life School.

Medication

At Holy Rosary staff will not administer medications to students without written consent from the child’s doctor AND parent.

Should your child need to receive medication during school hours a letter signed by your doctor stating the medication to be given, time and dosage will be required.
Prescription medications provided in their original pharmaceutical packaging with the dispensary label are also an approved authority from the Doctor.

We are not able to administer any medication (including Panadol) without a Doctor’s signed instruction.

Along with the signed authority from the Doctor, you will also need to sign the Medication Authority form when handing over your child’s medicine.
